Men and women of senior age, say this aloud with me, “Life is not over after 50!”

This should especially be emphasized to those who remain single after 50, or who have lost a life partner and going through the silver years alone again.

Instead, senior dating is still possible if only we put effort in getting out and meeting people.

You don’t have to do it the old way by visiting night clubs, which should already be too loud for you anyway. Now, there are even online dating sites sites to help people meet other people their age.

Date night ideas can be exciting if people take the time to be creative.

Classic Date Night Ideas

Seniors often stay at home and do not go out and meet other people their age.

By using a dating website or getting out into the community, dates will soon follow.

A Classic lunch date or coffee meet-up is a quick and easy way to get acquainted. It is always fun to choose fun restaurants.

For example, grab some coffee and go to an open mic night or visit a restaurant that offers activities like painting.

Volunteer in the Community

Going out and gardening or working at a soup kitchen is a chance to do something positive for the community while getting to know another senior.

Such a date will shed light on compatibility and help people bond over helping others.

Participate in Local Events

This is a chance to bond over common interests and support local businesses and organizations.

Consider Going to an Amusement Park

Who says that carnivals and amusement parks are only for the young?

This is a fun way for seniors to feel young again.

A couple can play games together, winning stuffed animals for one another and ride the Ferris Wheel, among other activities.

Do Something Active Together

Seniors can be active.

Why not go on a stroll through the park, swimming or to the gym together?

This keeps both the mind and body healthy and is also a fun way to spend the day together.

Gauge Interests

Mature singles need to think about their personal interests before deciding on a date.

Taking a look at a Senior Dating sites can inspire older folk to get back into the dating world. This is a chance to feel excited again about life.

  1. We have been married 48 years and every Saturday is our date day. This means we font allow any other plans to interfere and focus on us.

  2. I’m 54 and my hubby is 63. He doesn’t get up till noon and I’m up by 8. I work 4days a week and he’s retired. I want to get away and do anything. He wants to stay home and watch tv. I’m turned off by his unwilling to do things I enjoy and he wants oral sex and doesn’t understand why I’m not interested. We used to go camping and take day trips to the lake. He says we can plan a trip but the closer we get he backs out. Uses money, health, timing as excuses. We talk about these issues and end up arguing. How can I improve our relationship ?

    1. have you tried starting out with something small like a date night?
if he watches TV so much he must surely like watching movies – going to the movies is easy to do and not expensive
the purpose is to reconnect and see if he has the willingness to do so

      1. Thank you Martin but he said he prefers watching movies at home! It’s cheaper and no lines! I am giving up! My next move is to work full time and live on without him! I gal friends who go to movies and doing activities! We spent 5 days a week for a year and a half apart while I cared for my mom 24/7! That woke him up maybe spending time alone with our dog will wake him up again! Thank you for the suggestion!

        1. well sounds like it’s time to make the move for your own independence. A guy who can’t get off his arse for a simple movie out with his partner needs to now take a backseat to your own happiness and future.
He may wake up though sounds like he loves his TV more than you.
Good luck with your future, Teresa and thanks for sharing

  3. Oh shoot my hubby is ADHD and I am tired of trying to keep up. A good together time for us is if I can get him to pray with me or do some gardening. We both love both of these. Lol.

  4. Since when is being in your 50’s make you a “senior?”
I’m in my late 50’s and no one ever considers me a senior! In fact, I date men 10-15 years younger because of their energy level!

    1. Don’t read too much into labels, Maggie
hehe I date women 20 years younger because of their energy
Some people judge on age and attach a label. Personally, I couldn’t give a rat’s ass and you shouldn’t either

  5. This is really cute!!! My mom and dad, though they never think of themselves as seniors, still often go out to have fancy dinners or stay at home and watch old movies together. It’s really sweet and I think the dating phase should never ever expire. It’s one of the things that keep the love burning. Nice post, Fran! :)

    1. Haha Pam and I are 50 and 54 and we have never thought of ourselves as ‘seniors’ either. Jeez, I still feel like I’m 30-Something and ready to take on the world. A big area is how you think of yourself too, I think, Amanda and your mum and dad sound like a pair of cool cats indeed.
Think old, be old – never do it!

      1. Well Martin, I think that’s how everybody should feel – young and ready to take on the world anytime! :) And yes, I’ve the most awesome parents!
